In research studies, bacopa was found to support a variety of cognitive functions. In human trials, the intake of bacopa was found to be associated with faster information processing, increased learning rates, improved memory retention, and reduced testing anxiety in as little as 12 weeks. It seems that bacopa works on specific pathways for memory, learning, and relaxation. Animals treated with bacopa have been found to have increased antioxidant activity in many parts of the brain, including the hippocampus-the brain's memory center.
