Product Description
Niacin (B-3) as a collective term, refers to both nicotinic acid and nicotinamide. It was first discovered as an oxidation product of nicotine and thus, the origin of the name.
Niacin is a water soluble vitamin.
Health Benefits
Niacin plays an essential role in the activities of enzymes involved in carbohydrate and fat metabolism, nervous and digestive system functioning, manufacture of sex hormones, and maintenance of healthy skin.
Niacin's biocohemical effects are principally mediated by its metabolite nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and its reduced form NADH (reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) which are the major hydrogen acceptor and donor, respectively, in many biological redox reactions.
Niacin coenzyme forms (NAD and NADH) are electron carriers and play an important role in glycolysis and the Krebs cycle, two important energy-producing cycles in the body.
Suggested Use
As a dietary supplement, 1 capsule two or three times daily with meals, or as directed by a health practitioner.
NOTE: Niacin may cause temporary flushing, tingling, skin reddening, and sensations of heat, especially if taken on an empty stomach. This is a natural and harmless reaction.
